Have you ever finished your day feeling:
- Burnt out
- Like you didn’t accomplish anything
- The work you did was meaningless
- A bit emotional maybe?
All of that stems from not performing work that’s purposeful. Reading about 401k’s, emails about politics, back and forth debates, etc. are all forms of shallow work.
Instead, try this:
- Answer your emails certain hours of the day
- Don’t always be on slack
- Keep your focus on what you’re doing (the present) instead of everything else happening in your life
It’s easier said than done, but once you can stay in the present, your life as an engineer will be better
