Every job, whether you’re consulting, running your own business, or working full-time should have it’s boundaries.
Many professionals are nervous about setting boundaries at work, for example, saying no to a duty that isn’t your job or taking a late meeting.
Why?
- People don’t want to get fired
- People don’t want to have managers “remember that” later on
- People feel uncomfortable saying no
To have freedom both in your life and career, you must learn how to say no.
How can you be comfortable saying no?
- Be financially stable
- Have a solid amount of career capital
Agreed, but is not easy to save money because all people support family, grandparents, parents and pay bills. In secondary countries that the economy is not good enough is very challenging.
I totally agree with you. It’s not meant to be easy :). I grew up very poor and my family life wasn’t the best by a long shot, so I understand the struggle.
